If you’re familiar with the phrases, “Swiper no swiping,” “Yum, yum ,yum, yum, yum! Delicioso!,” and “Hola! Soy Dora,” then you have kids who were obsessed with the Dora the Explorer Nickelodeon cartoon character. Well those kids are older now, but Paramount Pictures is cashing in that obsession with a live-action movie version of our favorite little explorer.
In the trailer, Dora (Isabela Moner) transfers from the Jungle to the real world. She is sent to her cousin Diego’s (Jeffrey Wahlberg) house to live and go to to High School, to be around kids her own age. But it takes a little adjustment for Dora to adapt to the big city. However, Dora’s parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) end up getting into some trouble and Dora and her high school friends must now head back to the jungle to save them. That’s where Dora’s explorer skills come back to help her.
The gang’s all there, Dora, Diego, the backpack and our friends Boots (the monkey -voiced by Danny Trejo).
“Cousin Diego, you’re so skinny and tall, Dora says as Diego meets her at the airport.
“You are way more energetic than I remember,” Diego says. “Dora this isn’t the jungle, it’s high school. It’s life or death.”
Oh don’t worry Diego, Dora can handle life or death situations and she takes her friends on an adventure of al lifetime as they search for her parents. So go ahead and “unleash your wild side” with Dora the Explorer.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold hits theaters August 2nd.
