Giada De Laurentiis Says She Wasn’t Shocked to Hear About Mario Batali’s Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Giada De Laurentiis isn’t one to usually put herself in the middle of other people’s drama, but when it came to Mario Batali’s alleged sexual misconduct, she spoke up.

Batali was fired from “The Chew” in December after sexual harassment allegations against him surfaced. Giada recently appeared on the Eater’s Upsell Podcast where she was asked about the allegations.

“I keep saying to people, it’s time but it’s also really sad,” she said. “I did not have those exact experiences with him, but it doesn’t come as a huge shock.”

In the past, Giada has referred to Mario Batali has a mentor. She now says that anyone who has spent time with him knows he can be “charismatic.”

“Anybody who’s ever hung out with Mario knows he’s a very charismatic person,” she said. “We drink too much and sometimes … I’m not legitimizing it by any means.”
