When Adam Levine announced last month that he would be leaving The Voice, much of the country and most of his fans were in shock. Heck, even Gwen Stefani was in shock.

“I haven’t talked about it yet because it was such a shock,” Stefani confirmed during an interview on The Talk earlier this month. “I wanted to come back so bad. I mean, the show is so fun.”

Indeed, Stefani will be returning to The Voice next season as Levine’s replacement in the famous red chairs.

“I’m happy for Adam, because he’s been doing it 16 seasons,” Stefani said. “He has his baby. He’s going to be able to go on tour and do music in a different kind of way. It’s exciting for me though.”

In fact, Levine was the first one to talk to Stefani about doing the show in the first place.

“Adam’s actually the first person to reach out to me when they were trying to pitch me the show,” she said. “He texted me out of nowhere, and I didn’t even really know him. To think that he’s not going to be there is bittersweet. And plus, like, being between him and Blake (Shelton,) the amount of laughter.”

Because while she hates that Levine is leaving, Stefani seems to love the fact that she will be reunited on the singing competition show with none other than her current love Blake Shelton.

“I mean, Blake’s my best friend, so I get to hang out with him at work,” Stefani said.
