Reality stars Brody Jenner, son of Caitlyn Jenner and Linda Thompson, and wife Kaitlynn Carter have called it quits. The couple, who star on The Hills: New Beginnings, put their marriage on display during filming of the series.
In a statement to E! News, a rep for the couple shared the news. “Brody Jenner & Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate. They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.”
According to the site, Kaitlynn has already moved out of the couple’s Malibu home. Although the couple married last year in Indonesia, they are not legally married sources told E!.
One sore spot for the couple came when the topic of children was brought up on the show. Kaitlynn wanted to start a family right away and Brody was reluctant to have kids.
“While I don’t have kids,” Brody said during one episode. “I’m gonna pretty much do what I wanna do and live for myself, as opposed to live for another human being. I think that’s why she wants kids, she wants me to change in that way.”
Not a great mindset for a relationship, one would think.
One person who saw the split coming was friend Spencer Pratt, who also stars on The Hills: New Beginnings. Spencer, who is married to Heidi Montag, talked about the breakup on his podcast, Make Speidi Famous Again.

“I’m not surprised,” Spencer said. “I think season 2 we’re going to get to see real Brody… I think he’s [going to have] way more fun. He’s way less intense. I feel like he has a lot going on, so I just hope we get to see relaxed Brody. So that I look forward to. I think there’ll be a lot of success in Brody. I feel like I said it that he almost was like a hostage, it felt like he was trying to tell me, ‘Get me out, get me out.’ ”
