Not many artists would raise their hand to the opportunity to perform outside of the Today show in the dead of winter. But Hugh Jackman isn’t like any other artist. The guy is one of a kind.
The Greatest Showman star delighted a packed crowd of bundled-up fans on “Today” to sing some of the music that he will ultimately feature in his new one-man show The Man. The Music. The Show. During this particular performance, he performed “The Greatest Show” along with a medley of hits from Les Misérables.
“This is the bucket list,” he told the crowd. “This is a dream come true. Look at me! I’m in the Plaza with the tree behind me.”
The Man. The Music. The Show. will travel across the country and around the world in 2019. In a recent interview, Jackman talked about why he decided to go out on tour in this way.
“It started for two reasons,” he says in the interview. “One because I had a failed attempt at doing an album, and I realized I’d failed because I didn’t really have anything to say. I was just doing songs people suggested for me. I came up with the idea of doing a show and thought that if I performed stuff I connected with, I’d come up with stuff I wanted to sing. I never got around to doing the album, but I’ve been doing the show ever since.”
