Former First Lady Barbara Bush,92, is reportedly in failing health and has chosen to not seek medical treatment according to multiple reports. As she spends time at her home in Houston with President George H.W. Bush and the rest of her family, granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager took to “Today,” to give a bit of a more personal update.
Fighting back tears, Jenna shared, “We are grateful for her, she’s the best grandmother anybody could have ever had or have. Barbara and I talked to her last night and she’s a fighter, she’s an enforcer. She reminded me not to believe everything you read. We’re grateful for her and everybody’s thoughts and just know the world is better because she’s in it.”
She also said, “She’s with my grandpa, the man she’s loved for over 73 years. They are surrounded by family, but I think the fact that they’re together and that he still says, ‘I love you Barbie’ every night is pretty remarkable,” she said.
Famously, Jenna has gotten in trouble on “Today” over the years for sharing a little much information about Gammy, but this time she will probably just get hugs. (One time she shared that Barbara was missing a toe on each foot.)
Jenna also dressed up like her grandmother once and then was surprised by her on-air.

After her appearance on “Today,” Jenna shared a touching Instagram tribute to her grandmother, saying, “Couldn’t love this woman more. Our world, particularly my families is so much better because she’s in it.”
And just a few weeks ago Jenna shared a portrait of Barbara, her daughters Mila and Poppy, her mother Laura Bush and sister Barbara.
Barbara and President Bush recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.
