Jenna Bush Hager Shares Farewell Letter to Grandfather George H.W. Bush

-

As the country mourns the loss of former president George H.W. Bush, those family members closest to home are finding the best way to demonstrate their love for him in front of the world. And for his granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager, the best way of doing that was through a letter, a tradition her grandfather treasured.

“Whatever demands were placed on him in his professional life, and there were many, we all knew we could count on him,” Hager says in a video tribute shared on the Today show on Monday (Dec. 3.) “He made each of us feel adored, always. He was our rock.”

The former president passed away last Friday (Nov. 30) at the age of 94. He had been in failing health since the death of his dear wife of 73 years Barbara, who passed away earlier this year. However, he was on hand in his beloved Kennebunkport, Maine as his granddaughter Barbara was married this past October.

“I’m sure that every one of his grandchildren thinks that he loves them the most,” she wrote. “He just always makes every person feel so special.”

Hager also named her daughter Poppy after her grandfather.

“My children will always know how special my grandfather is to us, because we will never let them forget,” Hager says.
