Host Julie Chen returned to CBS daytime series “The Talk” for the first time Tuesday (Sept. 18) since her husband Leslie “Les” Moonves found himself in a sexual misconduct scandal. And instead of announcing when she would be back at the table with her fellow hosts, she instead announced her departure from the show.
“Right now I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son,” she told the camera. “I have been at ‘The Talk’ since the day it started nine years ago, and the cast crew and staff have become family to me over the years. “I will always, always cherish the memories we shared. Most importantly, I want to thank you, the viewers, for allowing me into your home every day. It was a privilege that I will forever be grateful for.”
”Currently it looks like Chen will remain host of the CBS show “Big Brother,” a show she has become a fixture on for the past 18 years. However, insiders say that she has acted differently since the scandal regarding her husband broke.
“She’s a complete professional, but she’s just not as hands-on as she used to be,” a source tells People magazine. “It’s very different. It really does feel like she’s done. This season is almost over, but we don’t know anything about what will happen next season, and it’s making us all very nervous. It’s all we talk about.”
Chen and Moonves married in 2004 and share 8-year-old son Charlie.
