“This was not planned at all,” Ariana said as she welcomed Justin to the stage. “Thank you for being here Justin. We love you so much. Let’s sing.”
With that the duo broke into Justin’s 2015 hit, “Sorry.” Justin began the popular song as the crowd screamed with excitement and Ariana danced around the 25-year-old.
“Thank you so much guys,” Justin said as he closed out his performance. “I haven’t been on stage in like two years. I came out here, I had no idea I was going to be on this stage tonight. Absolutely no idea. I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was going to be on stage. So anyway, this is my first time on stage in like two years so I had to get my groove back. I had to get my swag back. So thank you so much Coachella, thank you so much to Ariana Grande and I love you so much.”
Justin has not been shy about the reason for his break from music. The “Love Yourself” singer has been open with fans about focusing on his mental health and his family. Justin recently wed on and off again girlfriend Hailey Baldwin in 2018.
“Just wanted to keep you guys updated a little bit hopefully what I’m going through will resonate with you guys,” he wrote. “Been struggling a lot. Just feeling super disconnected and weird.. I always bounce back so I’m not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your guys to pray for me. God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks .. the most human season I’ve ever been in facing my stuff head on..”
As Justin closed out his performance, he left fans with one big tease about new music. “And by the way, I’ll be coming soon.”
Welcome back Justin!
