Kate oversaw the completion of the garden and shared her work with her husband Prince William and their children Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis (1).  Later in the evening she returned to share the beautiful space with the Queen, before the exhibit opens on Tuesday (May 21).

Kensington Palace took to Instagram to share photos from the event, showing Kate, Prince William and the Queen strolling through the gardens as the couple explain the layout to the Queen.

“Today The Duchess of Cambridge welcomed Her Majesty The Queen to her #RHSChelsea Back to Nature Garden,” the palace wrote alongside the photos. “The Duke and Duchess showed Her Majesty some of the features of @The_RHS Garden, and introduced her to some of the activities that those experiencing the Garden can enjoy, including Reed Boat making ⛵.”

“The children played last night in a way I hadn’t imagined,” Kate told reporters on Monday. “”They were throwing stones. I hadn’t actually thought that that was what they would be doing. They kicked their shoes off, and wanted to paddle in the stream… using it in a way that I hadn’t anticipated.”
