Kelly Ripa Takes On New “Riverdale” Role Alongside Husband Mark Consuelos

Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host Kelly Ripa just made her life a whole lot busier by taking on a new role in the CW hit show Riverdale, which is based on the Archie comic series.  In an Instagram post on Tuesday (Nov. 6,) Ripa announced that she would be joining her husband Mark Consuelos on the show, playing his character Hiram Lodge’s mistress Mrs. Mulwray.

“It’s a family affair,” the 48-year-old wrote, looking downright sultry and sexy in the photo. “Hiram’s mistress. 23 years of auditioning for a role I was born to play. Coming soon to the CW Riverdale.”

Ripa is just the latest family member to find themselves on the much-loved show, as Consuelos and Ripa’s oldest son Michael recently appeared on the show playing a younger version of his father. It was the first acting role for the 21-year-old, who is currently attending college at New York University. They also have two other kids – Lola and Joaquin – who have said that Riverdale is actually one of their favorite shows.

Like any celebrity, Kelly has dealt with (and clapped back at) her fair share of Internet trolls, the most recent being someone who said Kelly was too old for her husband. Fans will recall that Ripa and Consuelos originally met when they were both acting on the soap opera All My Children.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays (8 p.m. ET) on The CW.
