The personal struggles of Lisa Marie Presley in recent years has been widely publicized. Not only has she been dealing with overcoming drug addiction, she also has been through her challenges in regards to a few business relationships that have gone wrong. And if her legendary father was here, he would undoubtedly be there to comfort his daughter through it all.
But he is not.
Yet, his music and his voice that provided solace to so many through his relatively short life remains, and provides his daughter an unspoken guidance that she is grasping onto these days.
“I think I already said, ‘Help me, God help me,’” she recalls in a “Today” show interview in which she contemplated on what she would say to her dad right now if he was still living “I would want to know he’s there. Yeah, it would be pretty much, ‘I could use your help right around now.’”
Luckily, that help has come through the music of the new album “Where No One Stands Alone,” a collection of Elvis’ gospel recordings, with one of the songs now including the vocals of none other than Lisa Marie.
“I was overwhelmed when I was singing it,” Lisa Marie confessed. “Because I was reading the lyrics and I was like, ‘Oh my God. I don’t know why this is happening right now. But I’m going to go with it.’“
