On the season nine premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Tuesday (Feb. 12,) restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump was shown still grappling with the untimely death of her brother Mark. And in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Vanderpump says the wounds are still healing surrounding her brother’s suicide.

So much so that she said she didn’t plan to watch the premiere of her very own show.

“I haven’t seen the episode,” Vanderpump confessed to ET. “I chose not to watch. Personally, it was a very difficult time in my life, especially around the beginning of filming. So I’ve chosen not to go back to that space and not watch it.”

Indeed, the pain was fresh as the premiere was filmed just three months after Mark’s death in May of 2018. Mark Vanderpump was just 59 years old at the time of his death.

“I wasn’t as prepared for combat as I should’ve been,” she tells ET about returning to the show while still mourning. “It hasn’t been a good situation. I think this year, with where my mental state was — and I’ve been very honest about that, I struggled a lot, you know, after my brother’s suicide. The first few months it was really difficult, and I was kind of searching for happiness, so, I think you know … when something really significant happens in your life, maybe it does change you, you know?”

Unfortunately, the suicide of her brother was just one of the many problems seemingly facing Vanderpump during this season of RHOBH. Tuesday’s episode also showcased an argument between the 58-year-old and her longtime friend Kyle Richards.
