The popular ’90s sitcom Mad About You, starring Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser, is returning to television. What’s being called a limited event series, the show will include the original cast, bringing Jamie and Paul Buchman back to life.
“We are so excited to finally be doing this and thrilled to have Peter Tolan (Showrunner) as our fearless captain,” Paul and Helen said in a joint statement. “We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show—as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great!”
Initially airing on NBC from in 1992, the popular series ran for seven seasons until 1999. Spectrum Originals has picked up the Sony Pictures Television series. Helen and Paul will executive produce and Helen will direct the first episode.
“Two decades ago, fans fell in love with this show, and this time will be no different as Paul, Helen and Peter explore modern marriage through the eyes of two people who have just become empty-nesters. We can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with the Buchmans all over again,” Katherine Pope, Head of Original Content said in the release.
Paul took to Twitter to share the good news.
“I TOLD you we were working on it. So happy to finally get the band back together! And getting to work with the great Peter Tolan,” Paul said in a Tweet.
The series is scheduled to launch in late 2019.
