Season 2 of The Masked Singer kicked off Wednesday night (Sept. 25) with a few changes to the popular competition show.

To begin with, there are 16 celebrities competing this season, while season 1 only had 12 celebrities. Their identities are guarded and no one, not even host Nick Cannon, knows who is on the show.

The premiere episode started by splitting the contestants into two groups—A and B. Group A saw Butterfly vs. Egg and Thingamajig vs Skeleton while group B had the Rottweiler vs Ladybug and Tree vs. Ice Cream.

The first eight singers faced off against each other in the as clues were given about each singer.  The bottom four singers then had to go up against each other in a smackdown battle, with the panel deciding the winners of each battle. The two that didn’t win the smackdown battle were eliminated and unmasked.

Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke returned as the panel who tried to guess who is under the mask.

Group A:

Egg vs. Buttterfly – Butterfly wins
Thingamajig vs Skeleton – Thingamajig wins

Smackdown battle – Egg vs Skeleton – Skelton wins.

That means the Egg was going home and is the first to be unmasked from group A.

Guesses for the Egg from the panel included Johnny Weir by Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy. Ken Jeong guessed Queer Eye’s Jonathon Van Ness and Nicole Scherzinger guessed Christian Siriano.

In the end, the Egg was revealed to be Olympic skater Johnny Weir.

Group B:

Rottweiler vs Ladybug – Rottweiler wins
Tree vs. Ice Cream – Tree wins

Smackdown battle – Ladybug vs. Ice Cream – Ladybug wins

That means the Ice Cream was chosen to go home and unmask himself from group B.
