The story of Matt Lauer has been a cruel one in recent years, as the former Today show host has faced allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.
And now, another chapter of his story just might prove to be even more painful.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Lauer and Annette Roque are officially ending their marriage, with Roque filing divorce papers in a New York courtroom. The two had been married for twenty years and share three children together.
“The case, which is an uncontested matrimonial, was filed on July 9th in State Supreme Court in Suffolk County, New York and is awaiting judicial review of the agreement,” a court spokesperson told E! News in a statement. “Upon a judge’s signature, it will be sent to the court clerk’s office to be entered. The process could take up to a few months.”
Fans will recall that the two split in late 2017 at the very same time that Lauer was fired from NBC amidst the misconduct allegations, many of which Lauer himself denied. From that moment on, news of a possible divorce has run rampant.
However, it has been reported by Page Six that Lauer has been in fact living alongside Roque and their children at a home in the Hamptons. Yet now that the divorce papers have been filed, there is a good chance that living situation will be changing very soon.
