When Michael Bublé and his wife Luisana Lopilato found out their son Noah had liver cancer in 2016, their entire world flipped upside down. After taking a break from music to be with his son as he went through treatment, Bublé is back on tour and is opening up about the hardest time of his life.

“There were a million times that my wife and I were just surviving, struggling to survive, and to breathe,” Bublé said of his son’s diagnosis. “I much rather would have it have been me. Many times I wish that it had been.”

Bublé says that he and his wife received an outpouring of love and support from friends, family and fans— which is the only way they were able to cope.

“More times than people could understand, some days when we wished we didn’t wake up, when we did, we felt the love of those people,” he said. “We knew they were praying for us, we knew that there was goodness out there. It gave us faith in humanity.”

Now 5, Noah is doing well and their family is getting back to a normal life.

“I’ve been through a lot,” he said. “One of the things about going through something that my family has been through is that it gives you great perspective and one of those points of perspective is that it really allows you to appreciate the good things.”

Michael and Luisana have a two-year-old son together, Elias, and just welcomed a daughter, Vida, in July.
