It’s been quite an eventful year for Miley Cyrus.

Not only did the singer and hubby Liam Hemsworth break up less than a year into their marriage earlier this year, but Cyrus also went on to have a fling with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter and currently finds herself dating Cody Simpson.

And now, she just had vocal cord surgery on top of everything else.

According to People magazine, Cyrus underwent the delicate surgery late last week and now will have to recover in silence over the course of several weeks. She became aware of the issue last month, when she was hospitalized for tonsillitis and doctors discovered the problem with her vocal cords.

She now joins an impressive list of artists who have also had surgery on their vocal cords throughout the years, including Sam Smith, Steven Tyler, Lionel Richie and Adele. Coincidentally, all of them have utilized the services of Dr. Steven Zeitels, who is the director of the MGH Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Sources say Cyrus was released from the hospital Saturday (Nov. 9.)

But staying quiet for several weeks? That might be tough, as the Cyrus clan is currently celebrating Billy Ray Cyrus big win at this year’s CMA Awards, where he took home “Musical Event of the Year” honors alongside Lil Nas X for “Old Town Road (Billy Ray Cyrus remix).”
