Actor Hagen Mills is dead at the age of 29.
Mills allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday (May 19) after he shot Erica Price, who was the mother of his 4-year-old daughter, according to People. The attempted murder-suicide occurred at Price’s home in Kentucky.
Before shooting Price and subsequently shooting himself, Mills had arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s house and had held his daughter and her grandmother hostage until Price returned home from work. Luckily, neither the grandmother or the little girl were injured.
“When Price entered the residence, she was shot by Mills, before he turned the gun on himself,” a police statement read.
Price remains in stable condition at a hospital with gunshot wounds to her arm and shoulder. Mills was declared dead at the scene. And at this time, there is no apparent motive.
“That would be speculative, whereas we are unable to interview the perpetrator,” Mayfield Police Department Sheriff Nathan Kent tells the magazine.
Mills most recently appeared in the 2016 FX television show Baskets, but also appeared in a show called Swedish Dicks and was set to appear in the upcoming film Star Light.
And yes, it sounds as if this was not the first time that Mills had confronted his ex. According to reports, Mills had just been released from jail on a $250,000 bond after an arrest last month that resulted in him being accused ‘of four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, assault (domestic violence), kidnapping an adult, kidnapping a minor and wanton endangerment.’
At the time of his death, Mills had previously posted bond but was ordered not to have any firearms in his possession. He also was looking at a long list of drug charges attached to his arrest last month.
We send our condolences to all those involved in this tragic situation.
