No matter how old you are, chances are good that the iconic character of Barbie has played some sort of role in your life. But now, the much-loved doll is set to reach all new heights as she is ready to make her big screen debut…in the form of actress Margot Robbie.
“This project is a great start to our partnership with Ynon and Mattel Films,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group in a recent interview. “And Margot is the ideal producer and actress to bring Barbie to life on screen in a fresh and relevant way for today’s audiences.”
“Barbie is one of the most iconic franchises in the world and we are excited to partner with Warner Bros. Pictures and Margot Robbie to bring her to life on the big screen,” added Ynon Kreiz, chairman and CEO of Mattel about the movie, which is slated for a 2020 release according to various sources.
Of course, first Robbie has to finish up her work on the movie “Birds of Prey,” in which she reprises her role of Harley Quinn. Back in November, Robbie shared a pic on her Instagram of a lipstick-kissed copy of the movie script.
So, who is excited about seeing Barbie on the big screen?
