At a time when the world seems to be craving some comfort food for our collective souls, there comes a movie that just might be able to do exactly that.
Scheduled for release on December 19, Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns follows the story of the next generation of the Banks family. As the movie trailer shows, the production includes the talents of actress Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, Colin Firth as banker William Weatherall Wilkins and Meryl Streep as Poppin’s cousin, Topsy.
“She has all of the ingredients,” director Rob Marshall said of the incomparable Blunt during a recent interview. “You have to be a great actress to be able to play that stern, reserved woman (with) a child under there. And then you have to be able to sing and dance, and she’s British. In this film she does the impossible, she makes the role her own. You’ll see, it’s a different Mary Poppins.”
Can you believe the original movie came out all the way back in 1964? And can you believe its now coming back with a whole new cast? I don’t know about you, but this will definitely be on our list of movies to see this holiday season!
Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters December 19, 2018.
