Stars Are Mourning the Late Kelly Preston: ‘You Were Our Daily Sunshine’

As the world awoke to the devastating news that actress Kelly Preston had passed away following a somewhat private battle with breast cancer, many stars who loved her and idolized her and looked up to her headed to their various social media channels to express their sadness.

Kelly Preston was extraordinary,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger, who appeared in the 1988 movie Twins with Preston. “I was lucky enough to star with her and direct her, and her talent was off the charts. She had such a big heart, she was a wonderful wife and mother, and my thoughts are with John and the whole family.”

Indeed, many stars mentioned her dear husband of 28 years John Travolta in their condolences.

“Such sad news about Kelly Preston,” Piers Morgan wrote.She & John Travolta had one of the most enduring (29 year) Hollywood marriages & were two of the nicest, most genuine people in the business. Gutted for him.”

“I’m unbelievably saddened by the news that Kelly Preston has passed and at such a young age,” said country star Shania Twain, who included a pic of her with the beautiful couple during happier times. “A beautiful and kind person I was fortunate enough to have known. My heart breaks for John and the kids.”

Yet another country star, Toby Keith, also headed to Twitter to express his sadness over Preston’s death. Keith and Preston starred together in the 2006 film Broken Bridges.

“RIP Kelly Preston,” the country powerhouse wrote. “I was blessed to do a film with you. You were our daily sunshine. What a sweet soul. Rest well girl. My prayers today will be for your family.”

Another one of her co-stars eager to express her condolences on the passing of Preston was the iconic actress Lynda Carter.

“I’m saddened to hear that Kelly Preston died so young,” said Carter, who is best known for playing the role of Wonder Woman. “I loved working with her on Sky High. She was truly kind, passionate, and talented, and she brought light to the lives of everyone around her. My heart goes out to John and their family.”

Even famed author and novelist Nicholas Sparks headed to Twitter to talk about how Preston touched his life.

“My deepest condolences to the family of Kelly Preston, and all who knew and loved her,” he wrote. “She was an absolutely lovely human being and it’s an honor to have had her be a part of The Last Song. She will be greatly missed.”

But perhaps the truest sign of a good person is the people they befriended that one might never expect.

“A pen pal is rare these days,” wrote former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks.  “A true pen pal. [Circumstantcially] I found that in Kelly Preston. We would email back and forth about life and how everything was. Both had an inside track on the dealings with fame business etc.. It was so comforting to me.”

“Such sadness as Naya Rivera still missing, Kelly Preston passes, also losing dear Lisa Marie Presley’s son Benjamin,” reality star Lisa Vanderpump wrote. “Hold your loved ones tighter, in our fragile existence.”

One of the underlying sentiments in many of the condolences was people’s hopes that as she leaves this world of chaos, she is greeted with peace within her final rest.

“Loving thoughts for 9 year old Benjamin, 20 yr old Ella and John Travolta also the Preston family,” wrote the legendary Mia Farrow. “May you rest in peace beautiful, talented Kelly Preston.”
