Over the weekend, “FRIENDS” fans were in a tizzy over news that the hit show would be leaving Netflix’s streaming service come January of 2019. After fans went crazy (and even started a petition to keep the show on the platform), Netflix made everyone’s Christmas wish come true, courtesy of a Ross Geller meme.
The official Netflix Instagram account shared a photo of Ross dressed up as the “holiday armadillo,” which fans will recall is from “The One With the Holiday Armadillo” where Ross tries to teach his son Ben about Hannakuh.
“It’s the Holiday Armadillo, here to tell you a magical story called FRIENDS IS NOT LEAVING NETFLIX IN 2019,” the picture read alongside the caption, “Please stop crying, FRIENDS is not leaving Netflix US in 2019.”
They also put out a Tweet saying, “The Holiday Armadillo has granted your wish: “Friends” will still be there for you in the US throughout 2019.”

While it’s unclear whether news of the show’s departure was a rumor or a miscommunication (or if the people truly spoke and the petition worked), fans are ecstatic about the news.
At the risk of being a buzz kill, I must point out that they did say “throughout 2019,” which alludes that the show could potentially leave the platform come 2020. Alas, fans at least have another 365 days to binge-watch.
Idk what y'all have heard but all I know is… they know that we know they know we know that Friends is not leaving Netflix in 2019. pic.twitter.com/O87txcQoxm
