Prince Phillip, 97, Involved In Car Accident Near Sandringham Estate

They 97-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth was involved in a car accident Thursday (Jan. 17) near Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

According to a statement from the palace, the Prince was unhurt.

“The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a road traffic accident with another vehicle this afternoon. The duke was not injured,” the statement from Buckingham Palace said. “The accident took place close to the Sandringham Estate. Local police attended the scene.”

The BBC reports that another vehicle, with two occupants, was involved in the crash. They were treated for minor injuries. The Prince’s car was overturned and he needed help getting out of the vehicle. Eyewitnesses state that the Prince was “shaken and shocked” but was doing well. ”

Prince Phillip recently attended the royal wedding of his grandson Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May 2018.
