‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ and ‘Robocop 2’ Actress Galyn Görg Dead at 55

Galyn Görg dead at 55 following cancer battle

After a private battle with cancer, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress Galyn Görg has passed away a day before her birthday. She was 55

The actresses’ rep shared a statement with E! News. 

“Our beautiful Galyn has crossed over. She quietly fought a good fight but unfortunately passed away 1 day before her birthday 6/14/2020 in Hawaii to cancer,” Galyn’s rep, Sheila Legette, told the outlet in a statement. “Galyn had been very private about her battle with cancer the last 9 months. But remained positive and continued to enjoy life in Hawaii. She loved the ocean and was an amazing dancer as well as a talented actress.”

“Her heart was of silver and gold and her energy and presence brightened any room she entered. She was love and light,” the statement adds. “Galyn was a beautiful soul who loved life, art, dance and was a phenomenal Woman. She was not only a client but a good friend who will be missed beyond measure.”

Prior to her death, Galyn’s sister, Sunny Gorg, shared on Facebook that her sister was given only days to live. She later updated the post with news of her passing.

“Our beautiful, kind, loving, talented, intelligent, magical sister passed this morning at 11:32am,” she wrote. “Thank you all for the love and support that has poured in from around the world; from Thailand, Peru, Moscow, Chile, Europe……Prayers and blessings from have been made by family and friends from diverse faiths from Muslims, Christians, Mormons, Buddhists, Native Americans.”

The Los Angeles native, who spent much of her time in Hawaii, began her career at a young age, appearing in youth theater productions and commercials. Aside from acting, Galyn also found a love of dance, studying styles of Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Haitian, Afro-Samba, Afro-Cuban, West African, Hip-Hop, Hula, and Funk.

Throughout her career, Galyn appeared in several films and television shows such as  for Point Break, RoboCop 2, Judgment Night, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,  Lost, Parks and Recreation and How to Get Away With Murder.

A GoFundMe Page was set up to help the family funeral expenses. According to the GoFund Me Page, “[Galyn] was diagnosed with cancer throughout her entire body and lungs. The doctors claimed she only had days maybe a week to live, and after remaining optimistic and praying for a miracle, she has sadly passed. We were unaware of just how sick she was as the diagnosis was a shock to the entire family.”
