Rosanne Cancelled

Just when she was making one of TV’s best comeback’s, Roseanne Barr finds herself in the hot seat and this time, her ABC sitcom is cancelled.

According to the New York Times, Roseanne sent a racist tweet that referred to “The Planet of the Apes” when mentioning a former top adviser to President Barack Obama who is black. She also posted a Tweet about Valerie Jarrett, former adviser to President Obama, that read “if muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

Roseanne deleted the Tweet and offered an apology, but it was too late.  “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me – my joke was in bad taste.” She then said that she was leaving Twitter.

ABC responded with a statement and cancellation of the sitcom. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC said.

Wanda Sykes, who was consulting producer on the show, has tweeted that she will not be returning with the show. “I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC,” she posted on May 29.

And the end came that fast.
