Leading up to the announcement of the name, odds were on the names Arthur, James, Albert, Philip and Alexander, which means no one was surprised that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate to us common folk Americans) went with Louis Arthur Charles.

Before announcing the name, Prince William (Big Willie Style to US Americans) was overheard saying that Alexander is a great name.
