Rush Limbaugh has fought through his share of challenges through the years. But this latest one might be his toughest one yet.

On Monday (Feb. 3,) the conservative talk show host revealed that he is battling advanced lung cancer. He first noticed something wrong when he experienced shortness of breath on Jan. 12. Just over a week later, two doctors confirmed the scary diagnosis.

“My intention is to come here every day I can and to do this program as normally, and as competently, and as expertly as I do each and every day, because that is the source of my greatest satisfaction professionally, personally,” said Limbaugh, who plans to take some time off to come up with his next course of action when it comes to his current health.

Limbaugh also will be undergoing treatment that will keep him out of the studio.

“Just heard the news about Rush Limbaugh, a man who loves this country and his listeners dearly, and is a tireless warrior for things he holds dear,” fellow broadcaster Megyn Kelly tweeted out on Monday (Feb. 2.) “Wishing him strength and tenacity as he takes on this new battle w/advanced lung cancer. Do what you do so well, Rush – FIGHT.”

On Tuesday night (Feb. 4) President Donald Trump surprised the talk show host by awarding him with the highest honor a civilian can receive—The Presidential Medal of Freedom—at the State of the Union Address.

Our thoughts are with the Limbaugh family.
