It was the first of what we’re sure will be more shocking eliminations on Dancing with the Stars Monday night (Oct. 21 ) when Sailor Brinkley Cook was eliminated from the show.

After dancing the Jive to Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” with partner Val Chmerkovskiy earlier in the evening—and garnering her best scores yet (three nines)— Sailor found herself in the bottom two at the end of the show.

It came down to Ally Brooke and Sailor, both received the lowest amount of votes. With the new season came new rules and it was left up to the three judges to decide between the two, who should go home. The judges and the fans were shocked that Ally and Sailor even made it in the bottom tow.

“First of all I’m shocked at this result right here,” Carrie Ann Inaba said before rendering her vote. “I have to make a choice and Sailor tonight I really feel like you came into your own tonight and you had a wonderful performance but the couple I want to save is Ally and Sasha, you’ve proven yourself over and over again.”

It seemed to come down to the couple who had done the best over the past weeks. Bruno Tonioli added, “I have to base my decision upon the past few weeks and because of that I think the couple who has the edge, Ally and Sasha.” And since it only takes two out of three judges to make the vote, judge Len Goodman’s vote was not necessary.

In the end, Sailor was so upset with the elimination she couldn’t even speak during the final interview and she was sobbing as the show went off the air.

“I’m so proud of her,” Val said telling Sailor to keep her head up. “She’s a star. This was just an appetizer to an incredible career, most importantly an incredible life. ”
