Can you imagine a world with out Moira, Johnny, David and Alexis Rose? If you are not familiar with those names, then you haven’t been watching one of the funniest comedies on television, Schitt’s Creek. Fans of the Pop TV show, prepare yourselves. Dan and Eugene Levy, stars of the show, have announced that the series will be coming to an end.

Say it isn’t so.

In a letter posted on Twitter the father/son team revealed that the popular series was going into a sixth season, but then they revealed it would be the last.

“We are very excited to announce that Schitt’s Creek is coming back for a sixth season on CBC and Pop in 2020! We also wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we have decided season six will be our last,” they wrote. “We are so grateful to have been given the time and creative freedom to tell this story in its totality, concluding with a final chapter that we had envisioned from the very beginning. It’s not lost on us what a rare privilege it is in this industry to get to decide when your show should take its final bow. We could never have dreamed that our fans would grow to love and care about these characters in the ways that you have.”

The sitcom began in Canada in 2015 and was created by Dan and Eugene Levy. Pop TV picked up the show to air in the U.S., but it wasn’t until Netflix picked up the show that it began growing a cult following.

Schitt’s Creek follows the Roses—Johnny (Eugene Levy), Moira (Catherine O’Hara), David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy)— a rich family who end up losing all their money thanks to their business manager. All they were left with was the deed to a small town named Schitt’s Creek, which they had bought their son as a joke birthday gift back in 1991. Now the Roses must rebuild their lives, adjusting to life in a small town while living in a motel.

The show stars Dan and Eugene, Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy, Chris Elliott, Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Robertson, Noah Reid, Dustin Milligan, Sarah Levy, and Karen Robinson.

Season 5 of Schitt’s Creek is currently airing on Pop TV.
