Shannen Doherty is in the fight of her life…again.

On Tuesday (Feb. 4,) the Beverly Hills 90210 actress went on Good Morning America to reveal that her breast cancer has returned, and this time it’s stage 4. Fans will recall that in 2017, Doherty announced that she was in remission after a two-year battle with the disease.

“I don’t think I’ve processed it,” she admits. “It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, ‘Why me?’ And then I go, well, ‘Why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this?’ None of us do.”

What makes this situation even sadder is the fact that she has kept this revelation secret for over a year, not saying a word about it as 90210 fans dealt with the death of her friend and actor Luke Perry, who passed away suddenly in March of 2019.

“It’s so weird for me to be diagnosed and then somebody who was, you know, seemingly healthy to go first,” said Doherty. “It was really, like, shocking.”

Doherty even proceeded to appear in the reboot of Beverly Hills 90210 while grappling with her stage 4 diagnosis.

“One of the reasons, along with Luke, that I did 90210 and didn’t really tell anybody [was] because I thought, people can look at that [as] people with stage 4 can work too,” she explained. “Our life doesn’t end the minute we get that diagnosis. We still have some living to do.”
