Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is currently mourning the loss of his fiancé Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters’ younger sister Franje.

“Our loss but heavens gain,” Tebow wrote on his Instagram page on Saturday (May 4) alongside a picture of him with Nel-Peters’ and her sister during happier times. “So grateful for the hope we have of being reunited with the ones we love through our Heavenly Father. Mr. & Mrs. Peters and Demi-Leigh we are praying for you and love you so much.”

“My little Princess, Angel on Earth, biggest joy and baby sister, Franje, passed away earlier today,” Nel-Peters also wrote on Saturday (May 4.). “Our hearts are aching beyond measure but I am grateful knowing she’s forever relieved of the pain she experienced on earth. She’s laughing, running and playing in heaven just like we always hoped she would on earth. She’s free! Thank you for all your prayers, love and support.”

Thirteen-year-old Franje, who was said to have been suffering from cerebellar agenesis, was in fact one of the things that originally brought the current minor league baseball player and the 2017 Miss Universe winner together after meeting at one of Tebow’s Night to Shine events. The two got engaged earlier this year.
