Christian rapper TobyMac is facing every parent’s worst nightmare right now as he mourns the sudden loss of his oldest son. Truett Foster McKeehan was just 21 years old.
“Truett did pass away at home in the Nashville area sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday morning,” the rep said in a statement issued Thursday morning to USA Today Network — Tennessee. “Cause of death has not been determined. Toby was traveling back from Canada and did not get home to be with his family until after midnight last night so there is no statement. We just ask that everyone please be respectful of their privacy during this time and allow them to grieve their loss.”
The Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office also confirmed that he did indeed die Wednesday (Oct. 23,) but no other details regarding his sudden passing have been released.
Just days ago, McKeehan had shared a message with fans on his Instagram account, sounding upbeat about a successful night in the studio.
“Last night it all kinda came together,” wrote McKeehan, who also was professionally known as Truett Foster, truDog and Shiloh. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me through the thick and thin.
That same Instagram page has now become a memorial of sorts, with friends and fans leaving messages for the aspiring artist whose life ended far too soon.
“Love you Tru you lit up a room and you were always so excited about life,” one message read. “You touched a lot of people and I will always remember how you made me feel. I just know you and the big homie are up there jamming right now.”
