Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were two of the first celebrities to reveal to the world that he tested positive for coronavirus only two short weeks ago.

As the world dealt with the spread of COVID-19, many people began to take it seriously after Tom shared the news that he and Rita had contracted the disease.

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia,” the Forrest Gump actor said after being diagnosed with the COVID-19 coronavirus. “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

The couple were in Australia working on pre-production of the Elvis Presley biopic in which Tom plays Elvis’ longtime manager Colonel Tom Parker. They have since been quarantined in the country, getting the help they need. Tom has been sharing updates from his quarantined room, as they dealt with the virus. Now, we’re getting word that the couple is doing better. Straight from Tom himself.

“Hey, folks,” Tom addressed his fans in a Twitter post. “Two weeks after our first symptoms and we feel better.”

He then went on to ask for common sense from people to stay inside and not spread the virus. “Sheltering in place works like this: You don’t give it to anyone – You don’t get it from anyone. Common sense, no? Going to take awhile, but if we take care of each other, help where we can, and give up some comforts…this, too, shall pass. We can figure this out. Hanx.”

Just the words we need to hear from Tom as he and his wife Rita continue to recover from the virus.

Prior to Tom’s update, Rita took to Instagram to share a video of herself trying to cope with being cooped up. “Quarantine Stir Crazy,” she captioned the video. In the video, Rita kicks it off by reading the book Ender’s Game, then music begins to play and Rita sings a long to four minutes of Naughty by Nature’s “Hip Hop Hooray.” And she knows every word. In the end she goes back to reading Ender’s Game and back to her quarantined life.
