Following the tragic loss of his 19-month -old daughter, Emmy, in a drowning incident, U.S. Olympic skier Bode Miller has taken to social media to thank everyone for their support during this “impossible time.”
“Thank you for all the love and support and to our midwives @lindseymeehleis and @courtneykellis for helping us find the support our family needs during this impossible time,” Bode wrote.
The Miller’s midwife, Lindsey, also took to social media to express her devastation and bring awareness to a GoFundMe page she recently set up to help the family.
“It is with deep sadness that I share another tragic loss in our small homebirth community. Our community stands strong and rallies….. so here is a way we can come together and start showing them love. The GoFundMe link will be above in my profile. Hold your babies extra tight tonight. 💗
The GoFundMe page has been set up to aid the family with the enormous medical bills as well as the memorial service. The page reads, “Over the weekend of June 9th, The Miller family tragically lost their baby Emmy who was 19 months entirely too soon in a tragic drowning accident in the blink of an eye.
“As the family navigates through the path of grief and sorrow that no parents should ever have to experience, I would like to call on the community and ask to help take the burden off of the mountainous medical bills that will soon pile in and the memorial service costs. Any amount helps.”
As of this posting, the page has raised almost $14,000 of the $40,000 asked for. Our hearts go out to Bode Miller and his family.
