Fans of The Bachelor tried their best to put their coronavirus fears aside Tuesday night (March 10) to enjoy some more carefree time watching the After the Final Rose special.
But, the night was anything but relaxing.
In fact, one could feel the tension through the screen as Bachelor Peter Weber not only decided to break off his engagement to Hannah Ann Sluss, but consider reigniting his romance with contestant Madison Prewett.
Here are top 5 cringiest moments from Tuesday’s live taping of After the Final Rose:
5. Barbara Weber and the Little Box
Throughout the entirety of After the Final Rose, Weber’s mother Barbara could be seen in a little box at the bottom of the screen, reacting to each and everything that was happening on the show. When they would show Sluss, she would smile and clap. When they would show Prewett, she would frown and not react. Awkward to say the least.
4. Weber’s Dad Speaks Out
While Barbara has received much attention from Bachelor nation, his father has been a player in the show also. And when confronted by host Chris Harrison about what he thought of a possible romance between Sluss and his son, he basically said that ‘he hated the situation’ and that starting a relationship with this many roadblocks is never a good sign. People magazine even picked up on Barbara telling Peter Sr. in Spanish, “Di algo mal también, ayúdame,” which translated to English means, “Say something bad, too. Help me.”
3. Sluss Confronts Weber
In what has become a Bachelor tradition, Weber found himself on the couch sitting next to his ex Sluss, and things got uncomfortable quick. In front of the entire country, the two discussed their broken relationship. “If you want to be with a woman, you need to become a real man,” she told Weber as he squirmed in his seat.
2. Weber’s Mom Strikes Back
There was no doubt that right from the beginning, Weber’s mother Barbara was no fan of Prewett. But on Tuesday (March 10,) she really went off about the reasons why. “The next day we met Madison and it started on a rocky road because she made us wait three hours to come in — she didn’t want to meet us,” said Barbara. “We had just come across the world and we were exhausted … and we had to wait three hours. And when she did come in, we didn’t get an apology from her. And when I proceeded to ask her if she was madly in love with my son, she said no that she wouldn’t accept a proposal in four days. … as a mother, that wasn’t what we were expecting.”
1. Barbara Brings on the Doom
Towards the end of the show, Barbara was asked by Harrison if she thought that a relationship between Weber and Prewett would have any chance of succeeding. And as one might expect, she did not mince words. “He’s going to have to fail to succeed,” she said about the relationship.
