Just two days after being rushed to the hospital with a heart emergency, Duane Chapman is opening up for the first time about the health scare.

“It feels much better now,” the Dog the Bounty Hunter star said in an interview with a Colorado television station on Wednesday (Sept. 18) about his recent hospitalization. “And I’m going through some psychological things right now too, so that doesn’t help. I think, basically, I had a broken heart. And of course, it’s going to heal.”

Fans will recall that Chapman’s wife, Beth Chapman, passed away back in June after a battle with cancer. And while Chapman says he is feeling better, he sounds as if there is a possibility that the stress of her death could have contributed to his recent episode.

“I couldn’t breathe,” said Chapman, who confirmed that three of his children are in Colorado with him right now, and that he will be going in for more tests later this week. “It was like I had ran a 3- or 4-mile run. There’s something haywire or it’s psychologically. I don’t know. I guess things happen like that.”
