If you’re a fan of “The Bachelor,” you know by now that ABC will often tease upcoming episodes with the promise of it being “the most dramatic yet.” However, things took a serious turn when contestant Caelynn Miller-Keyes shared her personal story of sexual assault.
During a one-on-one date with Colton Underwood (which included a shopping spree), Caelynn opened up to Colton about allegedly being raped in college after having her wine drugged.
“They drugged our wine,” she said.
“I woke up the next morning completely naked in my bed and had no memory of the night before. I had a small vision of a guy in my bed, and I just had this pit in my stomach that something really bad happened last night. My girlfriend called and said three of us were all sexually assaulted.”
She went on to tell Colton that her alleged assailants took advantage of her after she fell asleep.
“The girlfriend who didn’t drink the wine called me and told me that not only did a guy come home and have sex with me, but another guy— I was passed out on the couch from the drugs, and he said, ‘Watch what I’m about to do’ with all his fraternity brothers around me, and he lifted up my dress. They watched and laughed and took photos. It was horrible. It was absolutely horrible.”
She went on to say that while she reported the incident to the police, only one of the men was held accountable. “The men got away with it, except for one. One did get expelled, and the rest got away with it.”
Following the episode, Colton Underwood Tweeted about how glad she was that Caelynn was sharing her story. “There are moments that are bigger than the show itself… tonight’s episode has one of those moments. Please to be kind, respectful, and understanding to everyone involved,” he said.
