Justin Hartley always looked so happy. But apparently he wasn’t.
The This is Us star filed for divorce on Friday (Nov. 22) from his wife Chrishell Stause Hartley after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. According to People magazine, the divorce documents note that the official date of separation was July 8, 2019. However, the couple, has been seen at various events together since that time.
So yes, we are a tad confused. Or maybe, we shouldn’t be.
“In many ways, they’re somewhat fundamentally incompatible,” a source close to the couple told People. “Chrishell is really ready to just settle down and be a wife and stay-at-home mom and was hoping to start a family relatively soon. Justin wants that but also doesn’t think it has to happen in the near future and is at a point in his career where he wants to really be able to explore all the options that are coming his way. He’s reached a new level of fame thanks to the show and he doesn’t want to close many doors right now, and that’s not the path Chrishell is looking to take. She thought babies would happen soon after they got married, but it just hasn’t worked out.”

The couple dated for two years before getting married in October 2017, a wedding which was attended by a number of Hartley’s This is Us co-stars, including Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Milo Ventimiglia.
Here’s to hoping they find a way to work things out.
