Back in 2005, Kechi Okwuchi survived a plane crash that took the lives of 107 people in 2005. The woman sustained devastating injuries, suffering third degree burns over 65% of her body.

She wasn’t supposed to live. But she did…and she is thriving.

Appearing on America’s Got Talent: The Champions on Monday (Jan. 28,) the talented singer returned to the talent competition show after being a finalist on Season 12 of AGT. And this time, her emotional performance of Calum Scott’s “You Are the Reason” got her the golden buzzer from none other than judge Simon Cowell.

“I’m going to be honest with you…I didn’t really like it that much,” Cowell jokingly told Kechi before hitting the Golden Buzzer. “I actually loved it!”

“You are more than a champion of talent,” fellow judge Howie Mandel said.  “You are a champion of life.”

And we couldn’t agree more.

“Whether you have visible or invisible scars, you are more than your scars,” Kechi says in a recent interview. “You are more than what people can see. I’ve come this far, and I know I can go further. I have so much more strength and resilience inside myself than I ever knew.”

America’s Got Talent: The Champions returns on Feb. 4.
