After a controversial statement from Megyn Kelly earlier this week, NBC News has officially announced the end of her NBC segment, “Megyn Kelly TODAY.”

“Megyn Kelly TODAY is not returning. Next week, the 9am hour will be hosted by other TODAY co-anchors,” a spokesperson from NBC News stated.

The controversy began earlier this week after Megyn Kelly made a statement regarding racism in Halloween costumes.

“Earlier this week, Kelly was criticized for her comments on blackface during a roundtable discussion on her program about offensive Halloween costumes. The anchor suggested that at one point in time, wearing blackface was OK as long as it was part of a costume,” Today reported.

Megyn Kelly apologized for her comments the following day, saying, “I’m Megyn Kelly and I want to begin with two words: I’m sorry. I learned that given the history of blackface being used in awful ways by racists in this country, it is not OK for that to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise.”

According to multiple reports, Megyn Kelly is still employed by NBC News, but it is unclear what her role will look like moving forward.
