Millions of viewers watch each week as the stars of Shark Tank share their knowledge with budding entrepreneurs that are eager to make money.

But even these so-called experts can get phished some times.

Take for example Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran, who this week opened up about being scammed out of nearly $400,000.

“I lost the $388,700 as a result of a fake email chain sent to my company,” Corcoran tells People. “It was an invoice supposedly sent by my assistant to my bookkeeper approving the payment for a real estate renovation. There was no reason to be suspicious as I invest in a lot of real estate.”

Indeed, these scammers always seem to find a way, and in this case, they made it seem as if Corcoran’s bookkeeper was emailing Corcoran’s assistant.

But they weren’t.

The bookkeeper was actually communicating with the scammers, who changed the email address by one letter in an effort to trick all of the involved parties.

“The scammer disappeared and I’m told that it’s a common practice, and I won’t be getting the money back,” Corcoran says. “I was upset at first, but then remembered it was only money.”

Only money?

No matter what Corcoran says, this one had to hurt, at least a little bit.
