Tyler Cameron could have been your next Bachelor, but the 26-year-old model had other ideas.

“It was something we talked about,” Tyler told ET following the announcement that Peter Weber would take on the Bachelor role.

Tyler was the runner up on Hannah Brown’s season of the Bachelorette. He lost Hannsh’s heart to Jed Wyatt, who then had his heart broken when Hannah broke their engagement off after finding out that Jed had a girlfriend before coming on the show.

“You shouldn’t go on the show if you have a girlfriend,” Tyler told ET in reference to Jed.

As for him not opting to be the Bachelor next season, Tyler said, “My heart wasn’t 100 percent there, and that’s something you have to be fully invested in. I thing Peter is going to be amazing. I’m excited to watch Peter. I was on the other side as a contestant, which is a much easier role than being the lead of the show,” he noted.

Following his breakup with Hannah, Tyler began hanging out with supermodel Gigi Hadid. The two had been spotted in New York together on dates and hanging with friends. But as for his much publicized relationship with Gigi, Tyler says their just friends.

“We’re just friends. It’s just where we’re at. Our relationship doesn’t need to be public,” Tyler said. “She’s good people. She’s an amazing person. We’re just keeping it friendly.”

OK then. But what if Tyler had said Yes to being the next Bachelor? We can only dream.
