Wendy Williams has found herself in some hot water yet again. The talk show host has a lot to say about very different topics, often sharing her opinion on matters that you may or may not agree with. But on a recent episode of the Wendy Williams show, the 55-year-old really stepped in it.
When talking about the Joker actor, Joaquin Phoenix, Wendy seemed to mock his cleft palate lip scar, something that is covered up by his facial hair.
“When he shaves off his mustache, he’s got a hairline fracture, he’s got one of those — what do you call it? Cleft lip, cleft palate,” she said before using her finger to push up her lip in a mocking fashion.
Viewers and celebrities took to social media to share their anger and disgust over Wendy’s insensitivity. Wendy even got slammed by Cher and the Ambassador for Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
“THESE ARE THE PPL @WendyWilliams IS MAKING FUN OF,” Cher wrote. “Joaquin Phoenix was a Child,& We Dont Know What He Had To Go Through. HE IS ONE OF THE GREAT ACTORS OF OUR TIME,MAGNETIC,& MORE THAN HANDSOME SHE WILL BE JUDGED FOR THIS FOREVER.”
“As Ambassador for Cleft Lip and Palate Association @CLAPACOMMUNITY I really am disgusted by this @wendywilliams .. Mimicing a cleft lip, and making a joke about it, is disgraceful,” she Tweeted. “Have you any idea the pain and operations a child with cleft must go through as they grow? Please RT.”
One of the most outspoken on the matter has been Canadian football player Adam Bighill, whose son has undergone cleft palate surgery. Adam has counted the days, awaiting an apology from Wendy on the matter.
This is @WendyWilliams making fun of the cleft community on her TV show. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Are you kidding me??? We all have a responsibility to #EndBullying
With her platform, like myself, we have a much higher responsibility when it comes to our actions. This is just terrible. pic.twitter.com/JrlS0RJs5D

Adam did get an apology from Wendy when she Tweeted out to Adam regarding his son’s surgery.
“We’re thinking about Beau today as he is in surgery,” she shared on Twitter. “I want to apologize to the cleft community and in Beau’s honor, our show is donating to @operationsmile and @AmerCleftPalate and encourage our Wendy Watchers to learn more and help support the cleft community.”

While the responses to Wendy’s apology were mixed, Operation Smile thanked the talk show host for her apology and bringing awareness to the cause.
Some fans came to Wendy’s defense, adding that she was saying that she liked his scar and it made him sexy. But other followers didn’t think Wendy went far enough with her apology. However, Adam has accepted and thanked Wendy for her apology.
Thank you @WendyWilliams for your apology, your donation, and for thinking of Beau today for his surgery,” he Tweeted. “I forgive you, and I encourage others to as well. I wish you all the best.”
