If you were anything older than a teenager back in 1989, chances are good that you travelled to the movie theatre to see the movie When Harry Met Sally.
And then you blinked, and it was 30 years later.
Members of the cast of this much-loved movie recently came together to celebrate the anniversary of the release at the 10th annual Turner Classic Movies Festival.
“You make a movie and hopefully you like it, and hopefully other people [do too],” director Rob Reiner said at the event, which was also attended by Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. “You have no idea if it will stand the test of time, and its kind of cool that it did. I think that there are some basic truths about men and women that people connect with, and those kind of things, that dance, that weird dance that men and women do with one another kind of is basic and kind of there all of the time.”
“It’s the kind of music Billy and I knew how to play together,” Ryan added.
Of course, what made the movie was the undeniable chemistry between Sally Albright, played by Ryan, and Harry Burns, played by Crystal. And who could forget that iconic restaurant scene between the two on again, off again lovers?
We might have to watch this movie again tonight.
