Maybe you have a friend who “does’t like country music” or thinks that country music is “only for country bumpkins who sit on the porch and drink beer to pass the time.” Once upon a time, many years ago, I was that friend, but since then I have changed my tune. Now, as a country music lover and supporter, I have a playlist that will prove your skeptical friend’s inclinations dead wrong.
10 Country Songs For People Who “Don’t Like Country Music”:
1. “Like A Wrecking Ball” // Eric Church
This track seems more bluesy than country to me. I see myself riding in the bow of my best friend’s boat sipping an ice cold beer listening to this song. I love it.
2. “Take Your Time” // Sam Hunt
Okay, I almost feel like I’m cheating by picking this song since Sam is a crossover artist, but c’mon this song is great and Sam, you belong in the country music world.
3. “Burning House” // Cam
I just love this girl. She has a pure, beautiful voice and I feel calm listening to her.
4. “Faster Gun” // Little Big Town
As a southern girl who was raised on classic rock & roll, I’m crazy about this song. The beat, the bass, the harmonies. Give me more.
5. “Be My Girl” // John & Jacob
Again with the harmonies, these guys are awesome. I love their flawless collaboration of the classic 50’s sound and country.
This is just pretty. I kind of feel like I’m floating when I listen to it.
7. “I Walk the Line” // Johnny Cash
This is a classic. His voice gives me goose bumps – the good kind.
8. “Jolene” // Dolly Parton
This song is one of my all time favorites. You should also listen to Miley Cyrus‘ version, trust me.
9. “Loving You Easy” // Zac Brown Band
This song just has a good vibe. I bet you can’t listen to it without bobbing your head, just try.
10. “Mango Tree” // Zac Brown Band (feat. Sarah Bareilles)
I’m a sucker for anything jazzy, so this track is my jam.
