Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, and one of the richest men in the world survived Hurricane Irma while he bunkered down on Necker Island, his private island and resort in the British Virgin Islands.

And now, he’s ready to do his part to get locals back on their feet.

Branson shared a series of photos to Instagram where he stood in front of his devastated property. He also announced on Virgin.com, “To ensure that we’re there for our local community in the very difficult months ahead, Virgin Unite, Unite BVI and Virgin Limited Edition will be working together with local organisations to identify the ongoing needs of affected individuals, families and communities impacted by Irma – which is where your donations will come in. We need to raise as much money as possible to help those in urgent need.”

In another video on Instagram he said, “British Virgin Islands Hurricane #Irma story is not about Necker – it is about the tens of thousands of people who have lost their homes and their livelihoods.”

Branson’s brother, Sam, is also sharing photos of the devastation to Instagram.

For those who wish to donate, you can do so here.
