Are you ready for the party? Well, ready or not, John Rich and Kenny Alphin—better known as Big & Rich—are coming at you with their newest album, Did It for the Party, out now.
In an exclusive interview, the duo talked with One Country’s Kelly Sutton about what to expect from their new project, their fast-rising single “California” and taking a song back from Tim McGraw.
“This record is—I think it actually harkens back to some highlights throughout our previous records. Some of them rock so hard you go ‘oh, that reminds me the first time I heard that’ and then some of them reminds you of when you heard “8th of November” or ‘Holy Water,’ Rich says describing the album.
Did It for the Party features 13 new tracks, including the duo’s current single, “California”—written by John Rich, Rodney Clawson and Vicky McGhee— which is currently No. 29 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Of the 13 tracks, the song the duo feels that will resonate with fans happens to be the album’s title track
“When you look back at John’s and my career, it’s like the greatest stuff happened just because we got together to have fun,” Alphin said. “That was a common denominator that we realized when we met each other, is that we both like to have fun, we like to bring the party to the crowd. So we’ve always been doing for the party, I guess you could say, and we always will.”
