Not many people can step on to “The Voice” stage and sing John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery,” but Krista Hughes sure did. The 21-year-old native West Virginian grew up in a small coal-mining town listening to Merle Haggard and George Jones. You can hear those influences in her voice and stylings as she sings and she has a truly unique sound for today’s country music scene.

Hughes hit the stage in boots and a belt buckle the size of Cincinnati and earned a four-chair turn before choosing, you guessed it– #TeamBlake.

John Prine even approved of the performance.

It’s always such an honor to have someone sing your song…Good luck on The Voice, Krista Hughes Music

You know who else Prine often approves of? Kacey Musgraves.
