With a No. 1 single to their name and another Top 10 currently at radio, Maddie & Tae are ready for the deep end with their new single, “Shut Up and Fish.” The tune off their debut album, Start Here and was co-written by the CMA-nominated Vocal Duo of the Year.

If you thought “Girl In a Country Song” was sassy, then listen extra careful to Maddie & Tae describe a fishing trip with a new beau who’s looking to do almost anything other than fishing. “Girl In a Country Song” was a strong start out of the gate for these two, but “Shut Up and Fish” is a “we’re here to stay and you better pay attention” battle cry.

That being said, it is an upbeat, fun song that captures the dynamic personalities of both singers and their unique point of view(s)– they actually want to be fishing– no matter how cute the guy is.

Oh I was fishing he was wishing

We were kissing I was getting

Madder than a hornet in an old coke can

Getting closer sliding over

Crowding up my casting shoulder

Trying to reach out and hold my reeling hand

Saying I’m pretty saying he’s in love

And how it don’t get any better than this

I say yeah it could

Boy if you would

Shut up and fish

It should be noted that Maddie & Tae really do like to fish.

Maddie & Tae will be performing at the 49th Annual CMA Awards, where they are also up for three awards.
